The hype for Daniel Cormier vs. Brock Lesnar rose as soon as Lesnar shoved Cormier following DC's historic victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226.
The question of when Lesnar would be cleared to fight was answered on Monday, as USADA released a statement stating the current WWE Universal Champion re-entered the testing pool on July 3 and had six months and four days remaining, meaning he will be eligible to return on Jan. 8, 2019.
Initially, the UFC told SN they planned for the fight to occur at UFC 232 on Dec. 29. With that date highly unlikely, the next logical date is on Saturday, Jan. 19, the third saturday of the month, the customary day for UFC PPV events.
Cormier vs. Lesnar is the biggest fight the UFC can put on in 2019, so hopefully the UFC maximizes the full potential of what the fight could be and put it on Feb. 2. If not, they are missing the boat on what should be a historic event.
